Paul Bürkner is a statistician with a focus on Bayesian methods currently working as a Full Professor of Computational Statistics at TU Dortmund University, Department of Statistics. His background is in psychology and mathematics, and his core research is nowadays located at the intersection of statistics and machine learning, with applications across all quantitative sciences.

In the R community, Paul Bürkner is well-known for the development of the R package brms, which provides an interface to fit Bayesian models using Stan. Through the familiar R formula syntax, it provides a simple and approachable toolbox for performing Bayesian regression analyses.
