Martin Trapp is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University, Finland. His research focuses on probabilistic machine learning, uncertainty quantification, and reliable and trustworthy AI.

His talk is titled The synergies and challenges at the intersection of machine learning and Bayesian statistics. The talk will touch on the following topics:

  • Quick primer on deep learning
  • A brief overview of Bayesian deep learning: promises, challenges, and the reality
  • A brief overview on deep learning for Bayesian inference with focus on amortisation techniques
